    Sunday Morning | October 11, 2026 | John C. Majors | Louisville, KY

In his sermon, “Slap Happy and Extra Miles,” Pastor John continues the Sermon on the Mount series by exploring Matthew 5:38–42 and Jesus’ teaching on finding freedom from vengeance. While God’s law established boundaries for justice, Jesus calls His followers to go beyond seeking repayment or retaliation and instead respond with grace and love. This does not mean we should never resist evil or remain in abusive situations, but that we should refuse to respond to wrongdoing in the same spirit in which it was committed. Jesus illustrates this principle through four examples: responding to public humiliation without retaliation, choosing grace when facing potential legal trouble, responding graciously to the abuse of power, and showing generosity when the tables are turned. Rather than insisting on our rights or seeking revenge, we are called to trust God, pursue peace, and overcome evil with good, reflecting the same grace and love that Christ has shown us.

    Sunday Morning | October 4, 2026 | John C. Majors | Louisville, KY

In his October 4 sermon, “No Fine Print,” from the Sermon on the Mount series, Pastor John explored Matthew 5:33–37 and Jesus’ call to radical truthfulness. He explained how oath-taking had become a way to hide deception behind legal loopholes, exaggerated promises, and escape clauses, rather than a commitment to honesty. Jesus calls His followers to make the right promises, reject the fine print, and rely on their simple word—letting their “yes” mean yes and their “no” mean no. Pastor John challenged us to live as open books, reject empty oaths, avoid shading the truth, and follow through on our commitments. Our words are our witness, and a life of integrity should reflect the truthfulness of God and the grace and truth of Jesus Christ.

    Sunday Morning | September 27, 2026 | John C. Majors | Louisville, KY

In “My Way or the Highway,” Pastor John continues through the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5:31–32, showing how Jesus calls us to move from doing things our way to faithfully following His way. Jesus challenges us to seek the whole counsel of God, expose our tendency to self-justify, and honor the heart of the matter rather than simply looking for loopholes or technicalities. By pointing back to God’s original design in Genesis, Jesus teaches that divorce is ultimately rooted in hard hearts and calls us to pursue faithfulness in our relationships. Pastor John encouraged us to strengthen our marriages by never threatening divorce, staying in shape emotionally and spiritually, becoming the kind of person we would want to marry, becoming experts at forgiveness, and regularly affirming our commitment to one another. Ultimately, faithfulness begins with a heart transformed by God, as Ezekiel 36:26 reminds us that He can give us a new heart and a new spirit.

    Sunday Morning | September 20, 2026 | John C. Majors | Louisville, KY

In this week’s Sermon on the Mount, Pastor John continued through Matthew 5:21–30 with a message titled “The Pursuit of a Pure Heart,” reminding us that Jesus calls His followers to a righteousness that goes beyond outward behavior to the condition of the heart. We must first make sure that what we have heard is actually true, allowing Scripture—not assumptions or culture—to shape our understanding of sin and purity. Jesus emphasizes focusing on the spirit rather than merely the letter of God’s commands, revealing that sin begins within the heart. Because of this, we are called to do whatever it takes to cut sin out of our lives and pursue holiness intentionally. Pastor John shared five practical steps toward purity: change our mental images, renew our minds with Scripture, change our environment, keep looking deeper into our hearts, and make wise changes to our technology use. As we pursue purity, Jesus invites us to surrender not only our actions but also our thoughts, desires, and habits to Him.

    Sunday Morning | September 6, 2026 | John C. Majors | Louisville, KY

In “Finding Righteousness,” Pastor John continued the Sermon on the Mount series by explaining how Jesus set the record straight about His teaching and the Old Testament Law. Jesus affirmed that the Old Testament is authoritative, has a greater purpose than His hearers fully understood, and is meant to be followed—but not in the way it had been taught by the scribes and Pharisees. While the Law reveals God’s standard, Jesus came to fulfill it and point people toward something greater. For Christians today, the Old Testament Law reminds us of our need for God when our hearts are hard, points us to Christ, is fulfilled as God writes His truth on our hearts rather than leaving us under the Law, and must ultimately be understood through the lens of Jesus. Jesus did not come simply to give us a new set of rules; He came to transform our hearts and produce a righteousness that goes deeper than outward religious behavior.

  • Matthew 5:13-16 | How to Flourish when the World is against you

    Sunday Morning | August 30, 2026 | John C. Majors | Louisville, KY

In this week’s sermon on the Sermon on the Mount, Pastor John examines Matthew 5:13-16 and Jesus’ call for His followers to flourish even when the world is against them. Jesus gives us a picture of what it looks like to live faithfully through two powerful images: salt and light. As salt, believers are called to preserve what is good, influence the world around them, and live as people of covenant; as light, we are called to shine in the darkness and point others toward the hope found in Christ. When salt and light are combined, our faith cannot remain hidden—we are called to live visibly and intentionally as God’s people. Pastor John reminds us that this calling fulfills a purpose God established long ago: that His people would be a blessing to the nations. In response, we are challenged to take a step of faith by being intentional about sharing the Gospel, including reading the tract, and by praying daily for God to provide an open door to share our faith with others.

    Sunday Morning | August 23, 2026 | John C. Majors | Louisville, KY

In the second part of the Beatitudes, Pastor John explores four attitudes that reflect the love and character of Christ: mercy, purity, peacemaking, and perseverance through persecution. Jesus calls His followers to be merciful, recognizing that we are no better than anyone else; to be pure and undivided in heart rather than double-minded; to be peacemakers who are willing to take the high road and pursue reconciliation; and to remain faithful even when following Christ is unpopular or brings persecution. Throughout the Sermon on the Mount, these qualities reveal a life transformed from the inside out, reminding us that true discipleship is not about seeking the approval of others but remaining faithful to Jesus—even when it requires suffering. Ultimately, the greatest and final blessing of the Beatitudes is found not in our circumstances or the world's approval, but in the Son, Jesus Christ, who is our example, our hope, and our reward.
