  • The Dean Martin Celebrity Roast: Michael Landon (1984)
    2025/12/31

Kelly, Chris Hasler (From the VHS Rewind Podcast) and Mark discuss The 1984 Dean Martin Celebrity Roast: Michael Landon!

In the final episode of the iconic Dean Martin Celebrity Roast series (aired December 7, 1984), beloved actor Michael Landon—star of Bonanza, Little House on the Prairie, and Highway to Heaven—returns for his second hilarious roasting.

Hosted by the ever-suave Dean Martin, an all-star dais including Don Rickles (delivering razor-sharp zingers), Lorne Greene, Melissa Gilbert, Rich Little, Orson Welles, football legends Dick Butkus and Bubba Smith (who steal scenes with their surprisingly funny routine), Merlin Olsen, Brian Keith, and more unleashes good-natured jabs at the “Man of the Year.”

While not quite matching the heights of Landon’s 1975 roast, this swan song packs plenty of laughs, heartfelt moments, and classic roast charm—essential viewing for fans of the series or vintage comedy.

  • Macy’s 1991 Thanksgiving Days Parade
    2025/11/25

As Jennifer Lopez famously stated in that golden turkey, GIGLI: “Its turkey time. Gobble, Gobble.” (Relive the experience here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCQEs4uXbSc)

Yes, its Turkey Time once again and VHS Rewind is back with its Thanksgiving way-back machine: in this episode, we taking you back in time to relive the 1991 Thanksgiving Day Parade (courtesy of an NBC affiliate in Eureka, California!).

Guided by some cringe-inducing banter between hosts Katie Couric and Willard (loves the very young ladies) Scott, this particular Thanksgiving Day Parade offers the usual flotilla of floats, clowns, off-key high school marching bands, baton twirlers and of course your then-favorite character B A L L O O N S (Woody Woodpecker; Betty Boop (I think Willard has a woody for this one); Pink Panther; Raggedy Anne; Bart Simpson and more). And this parade is chock full of top Grade-A talent: John Schneider (!) SINGS! Kelsey Grammar SINGS! Keith Carradine SINGS! Joey Lawrence (‘memba him?) SINGS! Susan Anton (‘memba her?) SINGS! (and taking a nod from Willard, one of the VHS Rewind (loves the very young ladies) co-hosts (yes, it’s Christopher) swoons over Susan. And so much more incredible talent is on display (PC Quest (‘memba them?) (look them up if you don’t ‘member). And what is a Thanksgiving Day Parade without a depressing song from the then-Broadway show MISS SAIGON?!?! This parade abounds with so many great fashions. Given that this is the Thanksgiving Day parade, and Christmas is less than a month away, the commercials in between the parade are curiously not-Xmas-ey in flavor (some are, but most are about Cotton (!) (with an incredible earworm song sung by Richie Havens(!), unemployment in America (!!), Gameboys, Nintendo, Vaseline(!!!!) with no Xmas flavor whatsoever.

*From time to time we will release a video companion to each episode….go check it out here: https://rumble.com/v72749u-we-watch-and-discuss-the-1991-macys-thanksgiving-day-parade.html

So please Take a listen to this holiday tradition from VHS Rewind and we hope you have a very Happy (and delicious) Thanksgiving. Gobble Gobble.

  • It’s Time for CoreyGeddon! Meatballs 4!
    2025/09/19

Welcome back! Chris and I are relaunching VHS Rewind with a “CoreyGeddon”! We are diving deep into the works of Corey Feldman and will not be stopped! To start the fun off we discuss the often forgotten classic, Meatballs 4 from 1992!

“When the wealthy and scheming Monica Shavetts (Sarah Douglas) intends to buy Camp Lakeview and turn it into a golf course, owner Neil Peterson (Jack Nance) hires the young and spunky Ricky Wade (Corey Feldman) to handle the situation. Ricky has a bold idea: He wants the summer camp’s waterskiing team to compete with Monica’s rival team from Camp Twin Oaks. The showdown will determine Camp Lakeview’s future, and the underhanded Monica will stop at nothing to win.”

Meatballs 4 was released on March 6, 1992
