VCU Men’s Basketball just unveiled a brutal but thrilling non-conference slate for 2026-27, starting with a home opener against Little Rock and heading straight to Memphis to face Penny Hardaway’s squad. The Rams also hit the Maui Invitational, taking on Providence and either Arizona or Colorado State, plus neutral-site matchups against Florida Atlantic in Orlando and Mississippi State in Huntsville. Before that, they’ll roll through a tough home stretch against NJIT and Coppin State — and fans can catch their first glimpse of the team at the Black and Gold game on October 4. After a strong 2025-26 run that included an A-10 title and NCAA Tournament berth, VCU returns key players like Lazar Djokovic, Nyk Lewis, and Brandon Jennings — setting the stage for another high-stakes season. Game times and TV info are coming soon, but season tickets are already on sale for live action at the Siegel Center.

VCU is firing up for a wild 2026-27 season with a high-stakes showdown against Mississippi State in Huntsville — only the second time these rivals have met, and the last meeting ended with MSU’s NCAA Tournament win. Under Coach Phil Martelli Jr., VCU returns seven key players, including three starters, off a stellar 28-8 campaign that included an NCAA Tournament victory. Meanwhile, Mississippi State, led by scorer Josh Hubbard and coach Chris Jans (a tournament specialist), seeks redemption after a 13-19 season. Beyond this marquee matchup, VCU’s non-conference slate is loaded: they’ll battle Memphis and Santa Clara at the Maui Invitational, plus face Florida Atlantic on neutral ground. This schedule screams ambition — VCU is clearly aiming for championship contention.
