Practical wisdom with bite. A laugh at the madness.

VANLANDINGHAM takes a spell-breaking look beneath familiar ideas, cultural assumptions, and habitual ways of thinking - revealing the hidden patterns that shape what we perceive, believe, and do.

The aim is not to hand you another map of what to think, but to help you direct the flashlight - to see how experience is being constructed, loosen what’s been stuck, and recover the freedom to respond, choose, and change.

Hosted by Jack van Landingham - clinical hypnotherapist, educator, and underground artist - the show draws on more than 30 years of mind-body work and serious inquiry into perception, conditioning, and change.

Subjects range from consciousness, attention, and self-development to creativity, culture, power, and the hidden mechanics of transformation - through practical insights, reflection, deep-dive conversations, humor, and the occasional theatrical detour.

Reconnecting to what was never broken - only buried.

  • Forgiveness Isn’t What You Think It Is
    2026/09/15

Forgiveness is often confused with excusing what happened, forgetting it, reconciling with someone who hurt you, or simply deciding to "let it go." But what if those ideas obscure something much more powerful?

In this episode, I explore forgiveness through its older meaning of untying, releasing, and becoming unbound. I examine the difference between anger and resentment, why forgiveness doesn't require reconciliation or lowered boundaries, and how resentment can quietly keep us connected to the very people and experiences we want to escape.

Along the way, we'll look at a surprisingly common cycle of resentment, guilt, appeasement, and temporary relief—and how genuine forgiveness can restore the clarity to remember without reliving, set boundaries without hatred, and act without remaining emotionally chained to what happened.

Forgiveness isn't about letting them off the hook. It's about getting yourself off theirs—and learning not to bite the hook in the first place.
