    2026/10/21

Join Jimmy, Ken, Jon, and Carly as they dive into Mark 4. The team explores the Parable of the Sower, the lamp under a basket, and the mustard seed, discussing what it means to faithfully sow God's word and trust Him through the storms of life.

    Episode Breakdown

    • The Parable of the Sower (Mark 4:1–20): Unpacking the four soils, the condition of the human heart, and our call to blindly obey and sow seeds of love.

    • Light Under a Basket & The Kingdom (Mark 4:21–29): Stewarding the illumination God gives and searching out divine mysteries.

    • The Parable of the Mustard Seed (Mark 4:30–34): The relentless, invasive growth of God's kingdom from small beginnings.

    • Jesus Calms the Storm (Mark 4:35–41): Recognizing Jesus as son of the Most High God and seeing Him as the authority over nature and all spirits. The disciples face fear and learn to trust His presence in their lives.

    • Q&A & Practical Application: Reflections on forgiveness, letting go of bitterness, and walking in the full joy of Christ.

  • Mark: Chapter 3
    2026/10/15

Four blown tires, a Chevy Cruze, and a neighbor's front yard make a funny opening. Then the Unskripted crew turn to Mark 3, where Jesus heals a man on the Sabbath and the religious experts respond by plotting his murder. The question for the episode: what if you can know all the Scripture and still miss God standing in front of you?

    What we get into

    • Watching for a fall. The Pharisees came to the synagogue to catch Jesus, not to worship him. Do we cheer people on, or quietly wait for them to fail?
    • Jesus gets angry. Mark says Jesus was angry and grieved at hard hearts. What does he care about enough to be upset by it?
    • Religion and power team up. The Pharisees go straight to the Herodians, so the religious elite and the political elite unite against Jesus. That pattern hasn't gone away.
    • Delegated authority. The "power" given to the Twelve is exousia, authority loaned to them, not dunamis, raw power. You carry it only while you stay under Jesus.
    • His own family. They thought he was out of his mind. Even the people closest to Jesus can misread him.
    • Binding the strong man. A house divided can't stand. The hosts ask whether the Western church has tied itself up in arguments and lost its power, caring more about being right than being the light.
    • The unforgivable sin. Is it a single slip, or a settled posture of calling good evil? Why does Jesus offer forgiveness for everything except hardened refusal?
    • Knowledge isn't relationship. The Pharisees knew the Torah and still missed the Messiah. Knowing things can make a hard heart worse.
    • Last-days warning. The hosts read Isaiah 5:20 and 2 Timothy 3:1–5, then push back on shallow online "community" and on secular counseling as a replacement for biblical counsel. Expect some disagreement here.

Read before listening: Mark 3:1–35, 2 Timothy 3:1–5.

  • Mark: Chapter 2
    2026/10/05

Jesus did not come to make religion more manageable. He came to make all things new.

In Mark 2, He forgives sins, calls the rejected, eats with sinners, confronts religious pride, and declares Himself Lord even over the Sabbath. The message is clear: "the new covenant will not be contained if it is poured into an old religious heart."

Religion asks, "Did you follow the rules?"
Jesus asks, "Do I have your heart?"

    New wine requires new wineskins.
