You ever look around your house and realize you’re surrounded by the evidence of hobbies you swore you were going to master? The untouched sketchbook. The language app you haven’t opened in months. The “I’m writing a book” dream that’s still stuck on chapter one. We get honest about that weird, specific struggle of hobbies after 40, when you finally have more freedom but somehow less follow-through.

We start with real-life updates and a reminder that “healthy” choices can get comical fast, then we move into the bigger question: why do we start strong and fade out? I break down three hobbies I’m actively trying to build in my 40s: drawing again with an anatomy guide, finally committing to learning Spanish in the United States, and attempting to write a book after years of reading nonstop. I also talk about the trap of buying tools instead of building habits, and why accountability feels good until people actually hold you to it.

We also get into what does work. Photography still has me out shooting and editing multiple days a week. Motorcycles still get me in the garage and on the road. Reading stays consistent, even as I try new genres through a book club. If you’re looking for motivation, consistency tips, and a little tough love about adult learning, creativity, and unfinished goals, you’ll hear yourself in this one.

Subscribe, share this with a friend who has “started” three hobbies this year, and leave a review if it hits home. What hobby are you picking back up next?

Family, friends, frenemies, pull up. This is your invitation to laugh, reflect, and speak your truth. No edits. No filters. Just grown-folk conversation. New episodes every week. Your comments shape the show. #unscriptedafter40

  • Healthy Eating After 40
    2026/09/17

Healthy eating sounds easy until you price it out and try to fit it into a real schedule. We’re working on getting back in shape, training consistently, and finding the right diet for better energy and recovery after 40, but the more we look into “clean eating,” the more the tradeoffs show up fast: higher grocery bills, more prep time, and meals that do not always compete with the flavor of the stuff we grew up loving.

We talk through what it feels like to chase fitness goals while living an early-morning, full-workday routine, then still trying to hit the gym later. That grind makes nutrition choices matter more, not less, because food becomes fuel and recovery, not just something to grab on the way home. We also get honest about the cost gap between cheap convenience food and healthier options, from fast food value meals to expensive “healthy” sandwiches and salads that somehow cost more than you expect.

Then we get into the messy middle: trying to do better without pretending cravings do not exist. A real cheeseburger, ribs, or fried chicken can feel impossible to ignore, so we focus on how to make healthier food actually taste good and stay affordable. We also touch on the idea of growing food at home, and why even that takes consistency.

If you’ve figured out budget-friendly healthy meals, smart grocery strategies, or realistic meal prep for busy people, we want your help. Subscribe, share this with a friend who’s trying to eat better, and leave a review, then drop your best tips and go-to meals in the comments.

  • My Pregnant Woman Bladder Versus Football Dreams
    2026/09/10

    Send us Fan Mail

Zero years of college football. Five years of eligibility. A brand-new gym routine. That’s the kind of headline math that can make any grown man start imagining a comeback season, even if it’s mostly jokes and pure confidence. We kick things off by talking fitness after 40, what it feels like to get your body back, and why the idea of chasing an old sports dream still hits, even when you know the competition is younger and the hits are harder.

Then we pivot to the internet, where confidence is currency and scams are everywhere. We react to stories about people faking NFL player status to get money, and we unpack how social media, AI images, and “just post the right clip” culture can blur the line between real life and performance. If you’ve ever felt your attention getting cooked by Instagram, Facebook, or X, you’ll recognize the struggle and probably laugh at how honest it gets.

The real-life centerpiece, though, is health: hydration, heat waves, high blood pressure medication, and the awkward question nobody wants to ask out loud, “Am I peeing too much?” We talk through what changes with age, why drinking more water can also mean more bathroom trips, and why getting checked matters even when you think you already know the reason. If you care about men’s health, blood pressure, hydration habits, and staying sharp online, there’s a lot packed into this one.

Listen, share it with a friend who needs the laugh, and leave a review if you want more honest stories like this. What part did you relate to most?
