Bands such as Blink 182 ,Agent 51, Sprung Monkey , Unwritten Law started at the San Diego, CA music venue called SOMA . SOMA was an all ages club with a heavy emphasis on local bands.This is where many bands grew up and became national touring bands by starting off on the smaller stage and then growing their audience to get to the main stage and open for national acts as well as headline their own shows . Jerm booked bands and ran the club from November 1989 until 1997 .Jer took over running the club and eventually opened the latest version with Scott Raynor years later . We helped grow the scene and bands such as Blink 182 ,Agent 51, Sprung Monkey , Unwritten Law ,Ghoulspoon ,Slightly Stoopid , P.O.D. ,Buck-O-Nine , and many many others as well as National acts such as Green Day , No Doubt , KORN who had become regulars as far as main stage acts . Jerm & Jer talk with band members , production friends and patrons about the scene and shows .Union and Metro is recorded at Jerm's house , headquarters for Red Rum Skates ( skateboard company ) . The club is now owned by a corporation and has a whole new crew working there .

    Jerm & Jer did our first remote session for this one. Gina , sister of the Cazares family , welcomed us to her home to hang out and record. Rocky , brother , was in town and Dino as well as Gina's son Zane , drove down as well as Jer. This was a bit of coordinating and even though I had to run home early , the family had a BBQ and I was blessed to be welcomed as family .

    we talk about Dino`s projects and brush into a bit of history .

    Dino Cazares : founding member/ creator of Fear Factory , Asesino , Divine Heresy and Brujeria, talks about roots of Brujeria ,as well as getting on Alternative Tentacles records .

    We chat about Fear Factory`s AMAZING version of "cars" which is originally performed by Gary Numan as well as play some music including my favorite as well as Dino`s favorite Brujeria song .

    Rocky shares stories of working at SOMA and Gina , whom we need to get more time to chat with, shares some stories with us.

    This is one of the most fun ive had so far . Great people and we barely touched base on all the chaos !!

    We had a few beers flowing and had some laughs as we catch up and the jokes fly and the drinks go down ! This was our longest episode to date.
    jerm and jer chat with Dan Albert and Jeff Hawthorne . Dan plays trombone in Buck o Nine and Jeff Hawthorne played drums for Buck o Nine as well as G Spot.
    We go back to the roots and once again the San Diego Reader is the place where they became a band thanx to the classifieds. This was 1987 .We discuss Jon Pebsworth( singer of Buck o Nine ) having a heart attack right before going on tour. Tony and Dan's stage mishap on the last show of the tour.
    Having band members in 3 different states , practicing becomes different and touring is basically the way to get everyone together. We chat about international tours as well their live album and enough material for 2 more albums .
    Jeff's introduction to playing with G-Spot and replacement drummer on tour with Buck O Nine . John Bell (UnwrittenLaw ) going on tour .
    Jeff seems to have a nervous stomach before playing .
    Lots of names dropped and lots of history !

    drinking game : take a shot every time you hear a beer cracked open.
