What better way to celebrate Labor Day than with two guys who know exactly what it means to be union?

This week, we're joined by Gary Payeur, Business Manager of Local 1 Insulators of St. Louis, and David Knipp — better known online as the Proud Union Guy. David has built a huge social media following by talking about the trades, union careers, benefits, wages, and what life on the union side of the industry is really like.

We get into the stories behind the work, what makes the benefits worth fighting for, recruiting the next generation of skilled tradespeople, wages, the future of the industry, and plenty of opinions along the way. And because apparently we can't have a serious conversation without turning it into a competition… we also put everyone to the test with some Labor Day Trivia.

This week, the guys talk about the great loss of Dolly, dive into their mentorship program and how they're helping new hires adjust to the trade, find their footing, and know they've got someone in their corner.

They also get into tariffs, continuing education in the bricklaying industry, and what it takes to keep learning and improving in a trade that's been around for generations.

And then… things take a turn.

The guys break out a perverted riddle game, proving that you can give a group of 40–50-year-old men years of life experience, careers, responsibilities, and wisdom—and they'll STILL act like a bunch of teenage boys when somebody says something that sounds dirty.

Terry kicks things off with his absolutely unnecessary impersonation of Rose, followed by Anthony giving us his best Jack. It's something. We're not saying it's good, but it's definitely something.

Then things get a little more serious as the guys talk about what would happen if unions disappeared, why unions have gotten such a bad reputation, and why some people just flat-out don't like them. They also talk about how unions can keep up with a changing workforce and changing times after being around for generations.

Of course, no episode would be complete without their game, plenty of laughs, and enough insults to keep everybody humble.

Last week's episode never saw the light of day... because Terry accidentally stopped the recording 7 minutes in and nobody realized for over an hour. 🤦‍♂️
