    #Changemaker and #Activist Loki Mulholland, an award-winning filmmaker,  author, civil right activist, diversity equity and inclusion expert and the son of Civil Rights legend Joan Trumpauer Mulholland. Loki has won multiple film festival awards, Best of State, and the Filmed in Utah Award. In addition, he has received over thirty Telly Awards for his various work in commercial and industrial films. 

    His first book, She Stood for Freedom, is an illustrated children’s book about the life of his mother. His award-winning film, An Ordinary Hero, is also about his mother. Loki has spoken extensively about the Civil Rights Movement and current race relations.

    In this conversation, Loki shares his story and the story of his mum Joan Trumpauer, an American civil rights activist who was active in the 1960s. She was one of the Freedom Riders who was arrested in Jackson, Mississippi in 1961 and was confined for two months in the Maximum Security Unit of the Mississippi State Penitentiary. The following year she was the first white student to enrol at Tougaloo College (A black College) in Jackson, Mississippi and served as the local secretary of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC). She later worked as a teacher, and she established the Joan Trumpauer Mulholland Foundation after her retirement. The foundation is dedicated to educating youth about the Civil Rights Movement and how to become activists in their communities.

    Trevor John is a passionate long-term, fundamentally based, investor. He is a student of Universal Basic Income, Community Wealth Funds, and other evidence-driven explorations of universal financial security and empowerment. Trevor graduated from the University of Cape Town, with a degree in Business Science. He is a fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (FIA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), and a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) professional. He lives in Cape Town and is a dual South African and British citizen. He works on an open-architecture platform as an Investment Actuary with Old Mutual International.

    #Changemaker Sonwabile Ndamase shot to world prominence as the #designer of the Madiba shirts he designed for the late President Nelson Mandela.

    Sonwabile Ndamase is a member of the Royal Phondo family. He could have used his royal heritage as a means of comfortable living, but his heart and skills were set on fashion design. Sadly, he was to receive no assistance from his family for this venture, as the fashion business was deemed for women only. 

    He is the CEO of Vukani Fashions. He shared incredible stories about Tata Mandela, the intent behind the designs and his memories whilst travelling as part of the #Mandela entourage.  

    Prince Sonwabile recently showed in Paris Fashion Week.

She is a leading voice for the world’s one billion women not actively engaged with the financial sector, urging the banking industry to view this community as a powerful new market of small business owners, heads of households, and consumers of financial products and services.

    Prior to Women’s World Banking, Mary Ellen worked for 17 years at the International Finance Corporation, the private sector arm of the World Bank. She had previously worked for the investment bank Lehman Brothers. Mary Ellen is a permanent member of the Council on Foreign Relations, as well as a member of the Women’s Forum of New York. She serves as a Director on the Board of the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation.

    A 2017 Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Center Fellow, Mary Ellen holds an MBA from the Yale School of Management and a Bachelor of Science in International Economics from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service. Most recently, she was recognized in the Forbes 50 over 50: Investment list, which highlights female investors and financial leaders. 

    Her first book, There’s Nothing Micro About a Billion Women: Making Finance Work for Women, was published by MIT Press earlier this year.
