Twenty-five years ago, I lived two blocks south of the World Trade Center. I was in my office when the planes hit — my husband watched it happen from our apartment window. For years, I struggled with even calling myself a survivor, since I wasn't standing in my neighborhood at the exact moment it happened. But I lived in the aftermath — two blocks from Ground Zero — for five years after, and both my husband and I are members of the World Trade Center Health Registry.
On this episode, marking the 25th anniversary, I share my story in full and talk about three things it taught me that I still carry every day:
🔹 How to actually stay clear-headed in an emergency 🔹 What gratitude looks like when it's tangled up with grief 🔹 Why "you only live once" isn't the reckless idea it sounds like
This isn't a history recap — it's what came after.
