A Tucson charter school’s former leadership is facing serious charges after allegedly embezzling hundreds of thousands of dollars through a fake company. Jason Riegert, his wife Staci Barton, and office admin Kimberly Richards are indicted for conspiracy and fraud, with funds allegedly spent on luxury trips, jewelry, plastic surgery, and a brand new Cadillac. The scheme spanned from 2018 to 2024, and all three are now under legal pressure—with Riegert and Barton each held on $250K bonds. Academy Del Sol, the fine arts school at the center of this scandal, remains silent as the community grapples with how such fraud could thrive in an institution meant to uplift youth.
