  • Truth’s Table Preaches: A Whisper for the Weary by Dr. Christina Edmondson
    2026/08/22

    Episode Description:

In this episode, Dr. Christina Edmondson preaches a sermon entitled, “A Whisper for the Weary,” reflecting on Elijah’s encounter with God in 1 Kings 19:9-18. Elijah had witnessed God move in powerful, unmistakable ways, yet when he was exhausted, afraid, and overwhelmed, God did not meet him through the wind, earthquake, or fire. Instead, God came in a gentle whisper. Sometimes, we are so accustomed to looking for God in the spectacular that we miss the sacredness of the subtle.Pull up a seat at the table. Bring your weariness. Quiet your heart. And listen closely. God may be speaking in a whisper.

  • Single But Jesus Ain't Bae with Sekou Browne
    2026/07/11

    Episode Description:

We are taking a brief break from our Underground Railroad 2.0 series to talk about singleness in the church. It’s been a minute since Christina and Ekemini have talked about singleness in the church, so they invited Sekou Browne to join them at the table. Sekou Browne is a writer, filmmaker, and Telly Award–winning producer, as well as a cultural critic exploring the intersection of faith, singleness, and church culture. His work focuses on the gap between the expectations many Christians are given and the realities they experience—particularly around relationships and long-term singleness.

His storytelling spans both film and daily writing, where his widely engaged Instagram column has become a space for naming patterns, surfacing unspoken tensions, and creating language around experiences many believers quietly carry. He is also the author of the Yoked newsletter, where he explores faith, relationships, and modern church dynamics through a reflective, story-driven lens.

Sekou is the creator of V Card, a vertical series that explores the social and spiritual pressures surrounding sex, dating, and identity within Christian culture. He was also selected as a finalist for the Stubios program, a joint initiative between Tubi and Issa Rae's ColorCreative, where he developed the concept that he has since adapted into his debut novel, Coming Up Short, set to release later this fall.

His work has opened doors for broader cultural conversation, including his upcoming TEDx talk, “Your Pastor Can’t Find You a Husband,” which examines institutional narratives around marriage and the lived realities of today’s Christian singles.

Across platforms, Sekou’s work is driven by a singular aim: to create space for more honest, nuanced conversations within the body of Christ.
