On the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Fr. Sikstus reflects on Mary, who was taken body and soul into heaven by the grace and power of God.
Drawing from the Gospel of the Visitation and Mary’s Magnificat, Fr. Sikstus highlights Mary’s complete trust in God. Even when she could not fully understand what lay ahead, Mary believed that God’s plan was greater than her own. Her Magnificat reminds us that God keeps His promises and favours the humble.
Mary’s faith was also expressed through action. She went beyond her comfort zone to visit Elizabeth, bringing joy, care and the presence of Christ to another.
Fr. Sikstus invites us to imitate Mary: to trust God in every situation, remain humble and grateful for His blessings, and reach out to those around us with genuine love and care.
As we honour Mary’s Assumption, may we seek her intercession and follow her example, trusting that God remains faithful to His promises.
