TRUE LIFE: AFTER DARK is the fictional shadow of TrueLife — an anthology of audio fiction, psychedelic noir, psychological horror, speculative storytelling, surrealism, science fiction, and stories from the edges of consciousness.

Created by George Monty, After Dark enters worlds where reality has become unstable — where memory can become architecture, language can alter perception, addiction can become ritual, and the impossible can begin to feel inevitable.

THE UNIVERSE: consciousness → perception → altered states → identity → transformation → reality.

Season One — The Chrysalis Compound is a serialized psychedelic fiction story about transformation, identity, altered perception, consciousness, and becoming. Begin with Episode 1 and listen in order.

Season Two — The Pharmacopoeia explores fictional psychedelic compounds and the strange territories they open: altered states, experiments, perception, consciousness, identity, and realities that refuse to remain stable.

Season Three — Night Priests of the Casino descends into psychedelic noir, gambling, addiction, obsession, mysticism, grief, fate, liminal spaces, and supernatural dread.

Season Four — THE DECREE: Five Truths begins a new mystery in Bellhaven, where five accounts of the same night form a fractured map of a reality governed by an unseen decree.

Every series is a different doorway into the same larger territory: What happens when the story we use to explain reality stops being big enough to contain it?

All stories, characters, compounds, events, and supernatural elements are fictional.

THE DECREE — Episode 1: “The Hour Thief”

Five Truths, Part One: The Witness

Three sailors survive a storm they shouldn’t have survived, wash ashore on a coastline that looks lifted from a children’s book, and climb the cliff path into Bellhaven — a town so immaculate, so joyful, it feels staged. It is. Every noon, the town’s bell tower rings the hour to the exact second, by decree of a king none of them has ever seen. When the bell rings half a beat late, they learn exactly what that decree is worth.

This is the first of five accounts of the same night in Bellhaven — each one true, none of them the whole story.

Contains graphic violence. Listener discretion advised.
