  • Episode 199: The Murder of Amy Theriault
    2025/07/10
On this week’s episode of True Crime New England, Katie and Liz discuss the tragic murder of Amy Theriault. Amy was known to be compassionate, empathetic, and a devoted mother who spent all of her time helping others. On May 31st, 2014, Amy was fatally stabbed and shot by her ex-boyfriend, Jesse Marquis, who was upset that she had ended their two-year-long relationship just the night before. Jesse was arrested after a manhunt that lasted nearly a week, and luckily he was found guilty of murder and sentenced to life in prison. Amy's family did not stop at getting justice and advocated for legislation in Maine for life in prison for murders related to domestic violence. This law, known as Amy's law, passed in 2019.
