Scripture Passage: Psalm 73

In Psalm 73, we saw the ache of the gap between God's promised goodness and the suffering we actually meet in a broken world. In the sanctuary, the Lord reorients us: the wicked are seen in their true end, our own need for mercy is exposed, and the risen Christ becomes our sure refuge. Because Jesus has suffered, died, and been raised for us, it is good to be near God.

Scripture Passage: Acts 16:11-15; Philippians 1:1-6

In Philippians 1:5, Paul praises the believers' koinonia — their partnership in the gospel from the first day. Like California redwoods whose shallow roots intertwine in groves, God's design is that we grow tall together, not alone. From Lydia's open home to the Philippian jailer's family, the gospel bound unlikely people into one body — servants, saints, and siblings under King Jesus. We were reminded that fellowship is a gift to receive and a shared life to enter — not an event to attend but a people to belong to.

Scripture Passage: Psalm 24

In Psalm 24, we studied David's song of the King of Glory who created all things and calls a generation onto His hill. Because we cannot stand in His presence by our own righteousness, He gives us the righteousness of Christ — the only One with clean hands, lifted up for us. We were invited to let the King of Glory in with the boast of children about their heavenly Father.

Scripture Passage: Psalm 20-21

We studied Psalm 20 and 21, where God's people pray for the King before battle and praise Him for victory after. Psalm 20 calls us to trust in the name of the Lord our God; Psalm 21 calls us to rejoice in His saving strength. Because Christ has already won the victory through His death and resurrection, we bring our daily battles to Him in prayer and praise Him for the deliverance He has secured.

Scripture Passage: Psalm 23

In Psalm 23, we saw the Lord as the shepherd who provides rest, guidance, comfort, joy, and hope for His people. Because Jesus is the Good Shepherd who laid down his life for the sheep and will bring them safely home, we were called to trust him personally and rest in his all-sufficient care.

Scripture Passage: Psalm 19

In Psalm 19, we studied how God discloses Himself through the world and through His Word, calling us to see His glory and treasure His law. Because creation leaves us without excuse and Christ Himself is our reward and Redeemer, we were led through God's general revelation, His special revelation, and our desperate need for cleansing from hidden and presumptuous sin.
