This episode asks “What is the church?” by unpacking Matthew 16, the creeds, and Old Testament imagery to show the church is the people to whom God has revealed Christ—not merely a building, program, or preference.

It explains ekklesia as the “called-out ones,” compares the Exodus deliverance to Christ’s saving work, and reassures listeners that though local churches can fail, Christ’s universal church stands secure and will persevere to eternal life.

Jesus inspects the temple after his triumphal entry, prays, then returns to drive out merchants and money changers who exploit worshippers. He overturns tables, enforces reverence for God’s house, and confronts religious corruption.

The episode draws out three themes—exploitation, restoration, and authorization—showing Jesus as prophet, king, and priest who cleanses the temple, exposes false authority, and foreshadows his sacrificial sign for the church.

Mark 11 recounts Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem—riding an unridden colt to fulfill prophecy—while the crowd wildly expects a political liberator. The sermon exposes how their passion was focused on earthly relief, missing Jesus' true mission to save souls.

The episode calls listeners to trust God’s sovereign plan, to recognize sin as their deepest problem, and to replace surface-level zeal with genuine spiritual progress and dependence on Christ’s grace.
