Traumatic brain injuries can affect memory, sleep, balance, mood, personality, vision, cognition and everyday function—and sometimes the person experiencing the injury doesn't even recognize how much they've changed.

In this episode of Legally Exhausted, Abe Ovadia sits down with Dr. Jonathan Gomez of Synapse TBI for an in-depth conversation about traumatic brain injury, concussions, post-concussion symptoms, neurological testing, treatment and recovery.

Advanced imaging and objective testing can provide valuable information, but understanding the patient's symptoms, history and changes in daily function remains a critical part of the clinical evaluation.

The conversation also explores the recovery side of TBI.

Dr. Gomez discusses individualized treatment plans that can incorporate physical therapy, vestibular therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and mental health care, as well as modalities such as hyperbaric oxygen therapy and photobiomodulation.
