This Trick Is No Treat – Part Two | Episode 25

In Episode 25 of Tomorrow’s Truth Found Today, Mark returns with Part Two of “This Trick Is No Treat,” continuing his examination of Halloween, its historical roots, and what Scripture has to say about a Christian’s relationship with traditions connected to pagan practices.

In Part One, we explored some of the ancient beliefs and customs associated with Samhain and the Druids. In this episode, Mark continues that history, including how October 31 became known as All Hallows’ Eve and eventually Halloween.

But this episode goes beyond history.

Mark asks listeners to consider a more personal question: If we learn that a tradition has origins that conflict with our faith, how should we respond?

Through Scripture, including Ezekiel 33:11, Ephesians 6:14–18, and Genesis 19:26, Mark encourages Christians not simply to accept traditions because they are popular or considered harmless, but to study God’s Word, seek the truth, and have the courage to live according to their faith.

This episode also marks a special milestone — 25 episodes of Tomorrow’s Truth Found Today!

Halloween is often viewed as a harmless celebration filled with costumes, candy, jack-o’-lanterns, and trick-or-treating. But how much do we really know about its history—and should its origins matter to Christians today?

In Episode 24 of Tomorrow’s Truth Found Today, Mark Long begins a two-part study examining the history and traditions surrounding Halloween.

In Part One, Mark explores the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, the Druids and their religious practices, beliefs surrounding the dead and the supernatural, and the pagan influences that became associated with Halloween over the centuries.

More importantly, this episode turns to Scripture to ask a deeper question: How should followers of God respond to traditions and practices with roots in paganism and the occult?

Through passages from Ephesians, Revelation, Hebrews, Matthew, Ecclesiastes, Deuteronomy, and other books of the Bible, Mark contrasts darkness with light, death with life, and the traditions of mankind with the teachings of God.

Is Halloween really nothing more than innocent fun—or is there more behind the celebration than most people realize?

Listen to “This Trick Is No Treat — Part One” and then take the time to study the history and Scriptures for yourself.

And always remember: You Are Worth It!

Part Two will continue the study of Halloween, its history, traditions, and what Scripture has to say about them.

Did Jesus actually die on Good Friday?

Using Scripture as our guide, we examine the meaning of "The Preparation Day" mentioned in the Gospels, the significance of the "High Day" Sabbath described in John 19:31, and the possibility that two separate Sabbaths occurred during the week of Christ's crucifixion.

    • John 19:31 and the High Day Sabbath
    • The Feast of Unleavened Bread and its connection to the crucifixion timeline
    • Matthew 12:40 and the prophecy of three days and three nights
