  • BAT BITS #39 NOW LIVE on Patreon: "Blankman" and Batman '66
    2026/08/13

Blankman is a 1994 movie about two brothers who grow up loving BATMAN '66. We know the feeling. When they grow up, circumstances lead the nerdier brother to style himself as a superhero. It's a comedy — sometimes. The tone of the movie veers too dark in spots to keep it feeling comedic. Is it a terrible movie? Is it a classic? Tim and Paul have watched it and, in the latest Bat Bits, they give their Bat-take on it. Listen to the MP3 for a short clip of the show!

How well did Jack Paritz and Bob Rodgers do at sticking to Semplian ideas of Batman? Where did they not go into enough detail to get their story across? And what do we notice about a certain Gotham City politician? We begin our multi-part look at this script, which you can see for yourself on our Patreon page!

  • BAT BITS #35 NOW LIVE: Women in Season Three: Olga, Batgirl, and Male Chauvinists
    2026/06/18

Here is an audio promo of our latest episode!

Nancy Northcott joins us once again to discuss women on Batman. This time, we're focusing on the Egghead/Olga team-up episodes. Are they as full of sexism as we'd expected from a 1967 TV show? What do we make of the leggy babe technician at the Radium Center? Is crime fighting "better left to the men"? What's implied by Batgirl's "Sixth sense"? And other general observations about "The Ogg and I", "How to Hatch a Dinosaur," and "The Ogg Couple."

    2026/05/21

Recently on BAT BITS we talked about what went into writing the recap we see at the start of part two of many Batman episodes. Then we noticed that the recap of "The Joker Goes to School" is considerably longer than any other Season One recap. This time, we look for clues as to why this recap lasts 2 and a half minutes, when all of the others are less than 2:00!

  • BAT BITS #32 NOW LIVE on Patreon: "Battyman" parody in CRACKED
    2026/05/07

In their years of podcasting about Batman 66, Tim and Paul have covered a number of parodies and ripoffs of the show, from MAD magazine to Batfink. But a listener has informed them of another one, b from the March 1988 issue of Cracked magazine. Even more than a year out from the 1st Michael Keaton Batman movie, interest was running high with still very little known about the film, so cast reunions and flashbacks to the '66 show were numerous. How does this parody stack up with the others we've discussed?

Find out by listening to Bat Bits! Subscribe to our Patreon for at least $2 a month, or, for $4 a month, you'll get that AND our monthly discussion of silver age Batman comics, as Paul or another in our stable of co-hosts joins me to examine individual Batman stories from the 1950s and '60s — most recently, Kumar and I discussed the origin of Killer Moth from BATMAN 63!
