In this episode, we are exploring the self-awareness which is a cornerstone of self-leadership, which is a major element of leadership excellence. Working on, and developing our self-awareness is a vital element of self-leadership, as it underpins how we show up and react within situations. As part of growing our self-awareness we explore some of the psychological concepts which goes into our self awareness, and therefore how we can work on and develop this.

From the triune brain and Willingham's model of memory, to exploring the present tension and a mechanism for self-reflection where we compare our real self to our ideal self.

We look to see how what these models show us can be utilised and implemented to ensure personal and professional growth, within our journey to improving our self-leadership before we develop our capacity to lead others effectively!

Joris has such a unique approach to leadership; where he balances his need for structure and discipline, with a humanistic approach; centred around the individuals within the team.

Some of Joris’ unique approaches are awe inspiring, from flying out to meet members of his team to take a forest walk in order to have deep and meaningful conversations about their careers and ambitions, to actively encouraging the members of his team to think outside of the organisation for their ambitions. I came away from this conversation inspired to take a more personal approach to my leadership, to have more honest and deep conversations in order to maximise the growth and development of those in my charge, and I know you will too.

In the fourth episode of our third series, we have an incredible guest on the podcast, Jamie Buccheri; an expert dog groomer who started her own grooming business at an incredibly young age before facing an unimaginable trauma which triggered her to turn it into a thriving empire, which she is growing faster than ever. _____________ In this episode Jamie shares with us her story, and the struggles she has gone through to get to where she is today. How tragedy made her realise the rat-race of work is really not worth it, and inspired her to grow her business to the point where she could find her work-life balance. Some of what she has discovered naturally, takes experienced leaders their entire working lives to discover. He believes that every 'game' we are in is a results based game, and as such we should be looking to learn the rules of the game and how to play it at the highest level in order to achieve results.

His passion for sharing the ideas and how he has come to discover these stages is captivating, and he has such an articulate way of delivering his message. I took a lot from this conversation and I know we can all reflect on our 'game' and use his roadmap to build towards success and high performance.

In the first episode of our the third series we’re introducing a brand new type of episode! This is our third type of episode within our triad of episodes, where we focus on coaching the individual.

In this episode, we have a real coaching session with someone who reached out after reading one of my blog posts. This guest recently left teaching and has been struggling to land a job, despite sending countless applications.

Together, we explore the challenges of transitioning from the classroom to a new career. I move between coach and mentor roles to help facilitate this free, single-session coaching conversation to ensure they leave the session with either an action plan or a strategy to move forwards with.

As well as hearing the coaching conversation, where elements may help you if you are in the same situation, I also pause the conversation at points to talk through the practical coaching strategies I use to help facilitate this coaching conversation, and progress the session and meet the client where they are at.
