Coming off of a string of unsuccessful albums, David Bowie decided to reinvent himself yet again in the late-1980s. Ever the master of reinvention, expectations were quite high, so it raised a few eyebrows when Bowie's next move was to form a rock band with three guys nobody had ever heard of and call it Tin Machine.

What could possibly go wrong? As it turns out...quite a bit. In this episode of Jon's WTF Music Moments, we take a look at Bowie's strangest career detour, and dive deep into a mystery that baffles critics and fans more than three decades later: Why the Hell did David Bowie form a band in 1988?!
