  • Abigail Stone - Sustainability Report Writer
    2026/10/19

Abigail Stone, a sustainability report writer and German-English translator based in Kansas City, Missouri, was one of the first people I wanted to interview for this podcast. She's smart, savvy and very deliberately expanded her translation career into a specialized writing niche that aligns with her values and her interests.

We talk about how and why she evolved her career, changes she is currently seeing and making and the impact of AI. You'll learn a LOT about the ins and outs of sustainability reports and what it takes to work at such a high level in this field. It's all super-interesting and inspiring. Still, my very favorite parts of this interview are when we get to our love-hate relationship with "morning pages" and how we go about continuing to find joy in our work.

This conversation meant a lot to me for many reasons. Abigail was my very first interviewee, and this conversation showed me just how much fun it is to talk to the people I've known, known of, or shared an industry with for all these years. How wonderful it is to finally sit down and have a lengthy conversation. And how worthwhile this project is.

I found this one truly inspiring, and I know you will, too!

Here are links to the media we talked about:

  • Andie Ho: Audiobooks, Politics + a Pep Talk
    2026/10/06

Welcome to the first-ever episode of Thriving Beyond Translation.

This episode, recorded in September 2026, features Andie Ho, a French-to-English translator based in Houston, TX.

We chat about her path into translation and her journey into the seemingly disparate worlds of audiobooks and politics, and about how life events, shifts in the industry and personal interests can shape a career path.

This episode is for you, if you:

    • have ever thought of getting into audiobook narration
    • are curious about nefarious things - and opportunities for multilinguals - in the audiobook industry
    • feel strongly about a civic issue and keep thinking “somebody has to do something!”
    • feel like you don’t have much of a community or a network (spoiler: you do!)
    • need a pep talk

I hope you enjoy this episode as much - or even half as much - as I did!

And if you did, I’d love it if you would like, subscribe and share to get the word out!
