Not standing in a queue while checking your phone. Not half-listening to something while doing the washing. Not waiting for a page to load before the next tiny hit of stimulation arrives.

Properly bored.

Long enough for your mind to wander. Long enough for thoughts you weren’t trying to think to quietly introduce themselves.

In this sixth episode of Season Two, Paul explores boredom, flow, creativity, attention, craftsmanship, modern convenience, cultural acceleration, and something he has started calling Thinky Time.

Not productivity.

Not procrastination.

Not mindfulness, exactly.

Because stimulation is not the same as nourishment.

Convenience is not always the same as care.

Speed is not always the same as aliveness.

And sometimes the richest parts of life begin in the places that look, from the outside, like nothing at all.

Maybe boredom is not always a problem to be solved.

Maybe sometimes it is the nursery of creation.
