Andy Steele joined the Australian Army at 17 and was immediately selected for Special Operations, but his story isn't simply about military service. It's about identity, character, faith, resilience and learning who you are when the uniform comes off.

In this episode of Think Uncommon, Andy shares what it means to carry the lessons of precision-based, high-pressure environments into fatherhood, leadership, relationships and civilian life.

• How being a schoolboy sportsperson lead him to the Army at 17

• The reality of coming home after combat and confronting an identity crisis

• How adversity, failure and resilience shaped the man he became

• The role of faith, service and moral code in shaping his life beyond the uniform

It's a conversation about what remains when the title, uniform, reputation and external markers of success are stripped away.

Behind every extraordinary life are moments that never make the headlines. Moments of betrayal, impossible decisions, quiet resilience, and the choices that shape who we become. In this episode, I sit down with intelligence specialist, veteran, author and host of Life The Battlefield, Mario Bekes.

From growing up in war-torn Croatia to serving in intelligence and rebuilding his life in Australia, Mario shares the experiences that forged his character and forever changed the way he sees leadership, trust and purpose.

Together, we explore:

* How betrayal can become one of life's greatest teachers.

* What war reveals about human nature.

* Why discernment matters more than blind trust.

* The hidden cost of carrying trauma in silence.

* How hardship shapes identity and resilience.

* The revelation Mario found walking the Camino de Santiago.

* What it truly means to live an uncommon life.
