Jess brings her years of experience as a therapist. Cathy brings her deep connection to horses and the wisdom they offer about trust, partnership, and showing up.     FEAR-Face Everything and Rise

    A listener requested we talk about fear. We feel this when we think something bad is going to, or might happen. Jess talks about where that that fear lives in our brain—in the Limbic region. It does not speak a language there—it messages us with images or sensations. Our brain wants a story and sometimes it confabulates something that could be false. We can change and re-write that story so we don’t get triggered. Cathy talks about fear and how it can get in the way of the rider. She wants to know if there is fear and then it can be talked about. Preparation in our riding and in other things in our life can help us not let the fear take hold and control what we want to do, or how we want to live!

    Cathy and Jess talk this morning about preparation. Preparing correctly helps you live in the moment, knowing that you are ready— Jess is taking her boat, The Relation Ship back to Canada at the end of June. She has made sure the boat was “summerized”—the wheel bearings done on her trailer, and the brakes looked at. Her truck just was serviced. They keep lists of things that need to be done. Cathy is preparing to put out jumps for the MidSouth Horse Trial. She has driven over the land to see the best placement, she has measured the arena for the show jumping. We all have to “think ahead”, do what needs to be done, and that helps us live in the moment, in peace to enjoy it!

    Reunions of our People and Places

    It’s Monday, June 1, Jess just had her 50th high school reunion festivities, and Cathy had a weekend Horse Trial at the Indiana Hoosier Horse Park. They talk about the people, and the stories. Cathy has been here in Kentucky for 48 years teaching and training. There is a beauty in knowing people for that many years. Jess graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1976. She loved all of the conversations and reconnecting with old friends. There is such a rich history in our lives of the people and the place. Thank you for listening!
