Welcome back to Self-Help Book Junkie, where we are continuing our review of Be Useful: Seven Tools for Life by Arnold Schwarzenegger.
In this video, we are talking about one of the biggest themes in the book:
There is no substitute for doing the work.
Arnold makes the point that he may not have been the strongest, smartest, richest, fastest, most connected, or most naturally talented person in the room.
But what he did have was the will to work.
And that changes everything.
Because talent is wonderful.
Natural ability is wonderful.
Opportunity is wonderful.
But none of it matters if you are not willing to put in the time, energy, focus, discipline, and repetition required to actually become excellent.
This is also one of the biggest misunderstandings about manifestation.
Manifestation does not mean you sit still and wait for life to hand you the dream.
It means you align your mindset, identity, vision, energy, and action so that when the opportunity shows up, you are ready to meet it.
You still have to do the work.
You still have to show up.
You still have to train.
You still have to study.
You still have to practice.
You still have to put in the hours.
You still have to become the person who can hold the result you are asking for.
That is Be → Do → Have.
You become the person.
You do what that person would do.
Then you can have what that person can hold.
In this video, I talk about:
- Why work is the foundation of success
- Why natural talent is not enough
- How people with less talent can still become wildly successful
- Why the will to work is one of your greatest advantages
- How manifestation and work go together
- Why aligned action matters
- How work can become flow state
- Why passion requires devotion
- How to look honestly at where your time is going
- Why one hour a day can change your life over time
- How to stop saying you do not have time and start asking what you are giving your time to
- Why nobody can take away your willingness to show up
The truth is, there will always be someone more talented.
Someone smarter.
Someone more connected.
Someone better looking.
Someone further ahead.
But they do not get to decide how much work you put in.
That part belongs to you.
And when you are willing to pour yourself into your dream, your craft, your purpose, your content, your body, your business, your children, your art, your calling, or whatever it is that matters to you, something shifts.
The work becomes more than effort.
It becomes devotion.
It becomes flow.
It becomes the place where you meet the next version of yourself.
So ask yourself:
What am I willing to do for my dream?
Where am I spending my time?
Am I actually working toward the thing I say I want?
Or am I waiting for life to make it easier first?
