Doctrine Behind Bars: The Theology Lockdown Podcast is a series of challenging, in-depth discussions with incarcerated men examining the difficult concepts of faith within the prison system.

At its heart, the podcast serves to highlight the inherent humanity and spiritual growth of those behind bars, using profound theological discussions and personal testimonies to reshape public perceptions of inmates. By centering on “living out doctrine and redemption,” TLP aims to set a new standard for how society views and engages with incarcerated individuals.

Beyond being a media platform, TLP functions as a "lifeline" and training ground through its integrated media labs. Recorded inside a correctional facility in partnership with the Oklahoma Department of Corrections, these labs equip inmates with professional skills in audio engineering, video editing, and graphic design, working to reduce recidivism by directly supporting the ODOC’s mission of "We Change Lives!".

The project is hosted by DOC volunteers Ben Winters and Robbie “APOC” Carpenter, along with inmates Jacob Watson and Mark “Keytek” Murray. To ensure security and compliance, every episode undergoes a review and clearance process by the ODOC before being released to major podcast and video platforms.

  • [009] Grace vs Works: If God is sovereign, where does our effort fit?
    2026/08/04

    S1:E9 – Grace vs Works

If God’s grace is completely free and unearned, why does the Christian life require so much effort, obedience, and hard work? In this episode, we tackle the classic tension between grace, sovereignty, and human responsibility.

We break down the dangerous trap of legalism versus the vital discipline of spiritual growth, what "works of righteousness" actually accomplish, and how to respond when you keep falling into the same sin. Can you abuse grace? And what happens when a believer ignores the conviction of the Holy Spirit? Tune in as we look to Scripture to see why grace is an overflow of rescue—not an excuse for spiritual laziness.

  • [008] Repentance : Is Repentance a One-Time Thing or a Lifestyle?
    2026/07/21

    S1:E8 – Repentance

There is a massive difference between being broken over your sin and just being broken over getting caught. In this episode, we look at the vital link between repentance, obedience, and daily sanctification. True repentance isn't a one-time transaction at an altar—it’s a daily lifestyle of turning away from the dark and running toward the light.

  • [007] Faith & Perseverance : Why Do People Walk Away From God?
    2026/07/07

    S1:E7 - Faith & Perseverance

There is a terrifying verse in the book of James: "Even the demons believe—and shudder." If the enemy has intellectual belief, then what does actual, saving biblical faith look like? In this episode we unpack the critical difference between acknowledging facts and heart-level trust, why people walk away from the faith, and the incredible reality that we don't survive the Christian race because we are strong, but because God refuses to let us go.
