- At 7:44 AM on February 11, retired mail carrier William Andrews found a pair of women’s sneakers knotted over the Fenwick Trail gate and called 911.
- Deputies lifting the right shoe’s insole found a cardboard strip with nine words written in Paula’s blood that included her name, her mother’s phone number, and a single location.
- County property inspector Ray Solis photographed a sealed root cellar beneath a Decker Road barn on October 2021; the cellar later disappeared from the parcel’s rental listing.
- Amy Hensley, the licensed property manager for the Decker Road parcel for three years, listed the barn but never rented it and omitted the cellar from her records.
