- Marcus Leigh drove eight hours from Beechwood, Indiana to Grover Mills twice to watch Erin's routine and carve a white soapstone rook over several weeks with a felt pad glued to the base.
- Wade Stewart's snowplow blade struck the rook on Pritchard Lane at 6:40 a.m. on December 9, 2019, rolling it against a fire hydrant; Leigh was arrested on December 19 and sentenced to six years in federal prison.
