It's become an anthem, a greeting, a prayer, an affirmation, a war call. And it is all of that and none of that, at once. As Rabbi Leor Sinai says, "Am Yisrael Chai is not a slogan. It's a way of life."

So what does it really mean?

On October 5, 2023, international Ju-Jitsu champion & IDF elite special ops trainer Sagi Dovev launched SORTEAM, a resilience training program with a roster of lucrative contracts already in place. Decades of tireless work was about to pay off in tremendous dividends.

Two days later, the October 7 pogrom was unleashed on Israel and Sagi immediately packed his bag. Without a moment’s hesitation, he dropped everything and drove into the melee. A reservist in the IDF elite special forces, he went straight to Sheba Hospital to help the most severely injured soldiers. And he’s been there every day since.

Sagi shuttered his brand new business and gave up everything to fulfill a self-funded mission to do anything and everything possible to help the soldiers rebuild their lives and regain their personal power. And he did it simply for the joy of helping others.

While Hamas has played a game of intense psychological warfare, Sagi has equipped an entire army of warriors with mindsets of steel that only get stronger the more they are challenged.

Israel is a land of miracles and Sagi is a miracle worker. Infinitely humble, he always makes his soldiers the heroes. But let’s be clear: Sagi is the most superhuman of heroes and he has a heart of solid gold.

Sagi Dovev is an international trainer and lecturer, as well as a resilience building consultant and trainer of wounded soldiers. He is also a former Israeli and European jiu-jitsu champion. Dovev served as the head trainer of elite units in the Israel Defense Forces. He retired from active service as a Major in December 2022 but continues to serve in the reserves. Since October 7, he has been assisting in the training & rehabilitation of wounded soldiers from his unit, many of whom are amputees. Alongside two other officers, Dovev co-founded a company specializing in resilience building workshops. His lectures cover topics such as setting goals, heroism, disaster, reconstruction, and building resilience. His current goal is to motivate, inspire, and build resilience within the Jewish people worldwide.

Hours after the diabolical Hamas attacks on Israel, the morning of October 7, 2023, Retired Lieutenant Colonel, Jonathan Conricus reported as a civilian volunteer for reserve duty and was appointed as an IDF Reserve International Spokesperson.

After serving 24 years in the Israel Defense Forces, including four years as International Spokesperson from 2017-2021, he was just the right person for the job.

He remained in that distinguished position until the end of 2023 and in those grueling three months, he conducted a nonstop flurry of interviews, briefings, and events. Covering all time zones and media outlets, Jonathan conducted 30-40 interviews with top-tier news services every night, and filled his days with Zoom calls, meetings, and diplomacy.

His service to his nation was tireless, unwavering, and inspiring, as he educated us all on the truth about Israel and their defensive and existential war in Gaza.

Despite the media's relentless anti-Israel bias and aggression, Jonathan never lost his cool. Never lost his composure.

As the voice of sanity and rationality in a hostile and sometimes antisemitic world, he reminded us daily--many times a day--how and why Israel is fighting this war. And why, no matter what, Israel must win.
