Zack James is the founder, CEO, and lead developer of StarScript, a Los Angeles-based self-publishing platform and creation network for independent creators. StarScript combines technology from Netflix-style streaming, LinkedIn-style professional and fan networking, social media, and IMDB-style ratings into a single ecosystem where creators collaborate with teams, publish their work, market to their audience, and engage with fans — all from one profile, while keeping 95% of every membership.

The platform launched in Spring 2023. Its core Productions feature, released in Spring 2026, allows creators to self-publish across seven formats: books, comics, music, podcasts, film, television, and art — without going through a traditional publisher, label, or studio.

Zack co-founded StarScript with his brother Matthew, the company's Creative Director, drawing on a lifelong shared passion for language, imagination, and worldbuilding. They built the platform to address what they saw as the central economic challenge of the entertainment industry: that the people creating the work bear most of the risk while capturing the smallest share of the value. The platform has grown to 2,800+ creators with roughly 125 new creators joining each month.
