The World Football Programme, 107.9FM Radio Fremantle Saturday February 7, 2026.

Welcome to season 40 of the longest running live football show in Australia and who knows, maybe the world?! We are on air from February through to the end of November every year.

The World Football Team this Saturday is led by Penny Tanner Hoath, our Scottish insider, David Kindness and young football hungry, Kayla O’Connor.

On the agenda this Saturday is-

    Introductory banter!

Introducing the new voice: Kayla O’Connor, in the studio and her global football journey from Perth WA to Spain and back to WA!

The team chat news across local, national and international football forums, including Night Series, A-Leagues, Asian Cup, Champions Cup, Champions Leagues and World Cup.

Discussion points: AFL is generally considered number one in Australia for sport attendance and cultural impact, Rugby for viewership and Soccer for participation.

How do we translate participation into increased audience?

Tom Sermanni, Australia’s longest serving Matildas Coach. Tom shares where his football wisdom has landed him for 2026.

Women’s football is right up there in sport media globally; the AFC Women’s Asian Cup is in Australia; Australian female footballers are making names for themselves all over the globe and the Matildas brand is still the number one sports brand in Australia. We still can’t get the A-League for women fully professional and fill stadiums on a local level. What more is there to do to achieve that?

Robbie Thomson, Paramount and 10Play match commentator.

Why are Australia’s A-League competitions so open this season? Is that good for the game or is there an underlying reason we need to address? Is it time to consider some game wide changes from top down to shake things up that can potentially put football in the same cultural space as AFL or ?
