Jude 14 is a quote from I Enoch. Many were familiar with this book and Jude uses it to advance a point he is making and it will resonate with the audience. We see that the unpious get judged.

These are both intertestamental books and not considered part of the canon except by the Roman Catholic Church. We should probably read them as devotional speculation. If you do read them, you will see how they do not read like the canonical books of the Bible. Interesting but not to be taken too seriously.

Pay attention to the phrase "Sons of God" - these are not angelic beings. Read Genesis 6:3-6.

The Gospel writers also quote the Old Testament numerous times to point to Jesus as the fulfillment of scripture. They are interpreting the Old Testament in a new way in respect to Jesus the Christ.

Redemption and how it happens is seen many times in the OT, Exodus passing through the sea, etc. Redemption is a big HOPE and PROMISE. Hope has a positive effect on the entire world.

What does fulfillment look like? The Word of God is to be established/completed.

Jesus invokes the Old Testament with the use of the 10 commandments language.

To understand ourselves, we have to start with God. Jesus shows us how to live as God. We see God as the creator of humanity, male and female. God makes life. We are to fill Earth with life. Man is mark of God's ownership of the world.

Matthew 5:27

Jesus is speaking about lust in this passage. Lust can separate us from our spouses and Jesus when it becomes central to our lives.

No sacrifice of anything that separates us from Jesus is too great. The only route forward is to obey Jesus.
