The Witte Museum is turning 100, and CEO Dr. Michelle Cuellar Everidge joins Jeff Webster to share what makes this San Antonio institution so much more than a museum. From its founding by a schoolteacher in 1926 to 350,000 annual visitors today, the Witte has been a cornerstone of curiosity and community for a century.
Dr. Everidge explains what the Witte actually is: a museum of nature, science, and culture that tells the deep history of Texas across disciplines. Whether it's dinosaurs, Indigenous foodways, or fine art, every exhibit connects the natural world to the people who've shaped it.
She also shares her own personal journey, from field trips to the Witte as a San Antonio kid to earning a PhD and eventually becoming CEO. And with the centennial celebration arriving October 8th, she's inviting the whole city to come see what's been built and what's coming next.
