The Witch’s Tale, “The Troth of Death,” episode 101, originally broadcast May 29, 1933. This local WOR, New York production is a repeat of the August 10, 1931 episode “The Troth,” written by series creator Alonzo Deen Cole and featuring Adelaide Fitz-Allen as Old Nancy.

In County Clare, Ireland, young lovers Bartley and Nora make a solemn pledge at a fairy mound despite opposition from Bartley’s wealthy father. As family pressure and a sea voyage across Galway Bay threaten to divide them, Irish folk belief casts an ominous shadow over their romance.

Old Time Retro Radio presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned and mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
