The Weight of a Promise

There's a version of keeping your word that only counts when it's easy. Rasulullah ﷺ never treated promises that way. This episode explores the Treaty of Hudaibiya and the heartbreaking moment with Abu Jandal, a promise made before the Battle of Badr that changed the course of a man's participation in it, and a covenant with the people of Madina that held firm even after Rasulullah ﷺ gained more power than he'd ever had.
A reflection on what it costs to keep your word, even when everything in you wants to make an exception.
