Hello, I’m Jonathan Gold and welcome to The Viking Radio Podcast.
Viking Radio was the station that first got me interested in radio and eventually led me into a career in broadcasting.
Now, more than 40 years after Viking first hit the airwaves, I thought it was time to document the story of the station that started it all.
Through conversations with the managers, presenters and people behind the scenes, we’ll go back to the early days and follow Viking’s story right through to its eventual demise.
We’ll talk openly and honestly about the highs, the lows, the big moments, and some of the decisions, mistakes and regrets along the way.
This is the story of the people who made Viking Radio what it was, and the station that helped shape radio in the 1980s.
