  • The Night She Stood at Mile 13 — Fexingo Horror
    2026/05/07
On a cold November night in 1998, I pulled over at mile marker 13 on a stretch of county road outside Pottsville, Missouri, because my engine was overheating. That's where I met a woman named Marguerite, who told me she was waiting for a ride that had been promised to her in 1972. She was still waiting, and as the hours passed and the fog rolled in, I began to understand that the road itself was keeping her there. This is a story about promises made to the wrong things, about the places where time folds in on itself, and about what happens when you look too long into the dark between the mile markers.

  • The Waitress Who Remembered the Fire — Fexingo Horror
    2026/05/06
Luna pulls over at a roadside diner in Blackwood, Virginia, one October night in 2017, for coffee and pie. The waitress, a woman named Grace, seems to know things about the town's past that she shouldn't. She tells Luna about the fire at the old mill in 1953—a fire that, according to records, never happened. But the heat still lingers in the walls, and the phone rings with no one on the line. Grace's apron smells like smoke. And when Luna leaves, the diner is dark, the sign unlit, the windows boarded. She dreams of flames that night, and wakes with ash on her pillow. A quiet, slow-burn ghost story about memory, guilt, and the places that refuse to let go.

  • The Man Who Stared at Mile 41 — Fexingo Horror
    2026/05/05
In October of 2019, a truck driver named Eddie Turlock began a ritual so strange that it took the whole town of Penrose, Colorado, a month to notice. Every night, at exactly 2:17 AM, he would park his rig on the shoulder of Highway 115, climb down, and walk to mile marker 41. There he would stand, hands at his sides, staring at the gravel shoulder for exactly eleven minutes, then return to his cab and drive away. I met Eddie after the sixth night. He told me he was waiting for something he had seen once, as a child, on this same stretch of road—a thing that stood at the edge of the headlights and never moved. When I asked what it looked like, he said: 'It looks like the last thing you want to see, but you don't know what that is until you see it.' I went with him on the seventh night. I sat in the passenger seat, watched the mile markers tick by, and felt the temperature inside the cab drop a full degree each time we passed a dead deer on the shoulder. This is what happened when we reached 41.

  • The Last Light at Kilgore's Motel — Fexingo Horror
    2026/05/04
In the autumn of 2018, Luna pulled off a rain-slicked interstate to spend the night at a relic: the Kilgore Motor Court outside Pine Bluff, Arkansas. The clerk had a glass eye and a laminated smile, and the neon vacancy sign flickered like a heartbeat. By two in the morning, Luna realized she was the only guest... and that someone — or something — was methodically unlocking every door in the long-abandoned east wing. This episode is about the distance between sleep and waking, and the sound of a key turning in a lock you thought was rusted shut. It is a story of exhaustion, half-belief, and the moment you decide it is safer not to look. No jump scares. Just a quiet, rain-drenched hour when the world felt a little too thin.

  • The Bridge That Waits for Rain — Fexingo Horror
    2026/05/03
Luna tells the story of a night in September 2019 when she took a detour off Route 9 in western Maine and ended up at a covered bridge that wasn't on any map. The bridge had a name carved into its beam — 'Mercer's Cross' — and a local man named Elias who warned her never to cross it after dark. She almost listened. But there was something about the way the wood hummed when the wind hit it, something about the smell of wet earth on a dry night. And there was a girl standing at the far end, wearing a yellow dress, waving slowly. What Luna found on the other side wasn't a road anymore. It was a waiting room. And the girl wasn't waving goodbye. She was counting.

  • The Gandy Dancer of Pinnacle Ridge — Fexingo Horror
    2026/05/02
Luna drives Route 287 through the high desert of west Texas one November night when her headlights catch a man walking the shoulder. He carries a pickaxe, wears denim from another century. At the crossroads town of Pinnacle Ridge—population fourteen—she learns his name is Isaac, and that he has been walking the same mile of abandoned railbed every night for a hundred and two years. The postmaster tells her the story of the gandy dancer who refused to stop working, even after the railroad pulled the tracks. Luna follows the sound of his pick into the dark. She finds a mile of fresh-laid rail, no rust, no ties, no gravel. The man offers her a spike. She is still holding it. A story about labor, loneliness, and what happens when a job is the only thing left of a man.
