Heroes and Celebrities | Isaiah 32:1–8

What makes someone a true hero?

We live in a culture fascinated by fame, followers, influence, and success. But being well-known doesn't necessarily mean someone is worth following.

In Isaiah 32, the prophet looks forward to a day when the world will be turned right-side up—when foolishness will no longer be celebrated and true character will be recognized. Jesus takes that picture even further, showing us that real greatness isn't found in being served, but in serving others.

In this episode of The Upper Room Podcast, we explore the difference between celebrity and character, why the people we admire matter, the hidden heroes all around us, and how Jesus completely redefines greatness.

Celebrity fades. Faithfulness leaves a legacy.

    📖 Scripture: Isaiah 32:1–8; Mark 10:42–45; 1 Samuel 16:7; Philippians 2:3–8

  • Divine Discontent Part - 3 From Burden to Obedience
    2026/08/07

What happens when God allows you to see something broken—and you can no longer remain comfortable doing nothing?

In this episode of The Upper Room Podcast, Michael Hobbs walks through Nehemiah chapters 1 and 2 and explores the difference between ordinary frustration and divine discontent. Nehemiah did more than notice Jerusalem’s broken walls. He allowed the need to break his heart, drive him to prayer, require courage, and move him toward action.

    Together, we’ll consider five truths:

    Divine discontent begins with seeing.
    It breaks our hearts.
    It drives us to prayer.
    It requires courage.
    And it inspires others.

Maybe the problem you keep noticing is not simply something to complain about. Maybe it is an invitation from God to become part of the solution.
