What happens when the life that looks good from the outside no longer feels like your life?

In this episode, I sit down with Unleash Yourself co-author Michael G. Neece to talk about kindness, authenticity, fear, self-doubt, and what it takes to start living a life that actually reflects who you are.

Michael shares how experiencing a stroke became a wake-up call. Although he had many of the things that were supposed to make him happy, he realized how much of himself he had buried beneath obligation, compromise, fear, and other people’s expectations. His recovery became part of a much bigger process of reconnecting with himself, leaving a corporate career that felt hollow, changing his relationships, and building a life centered around kindness and purpose.

• What happens when your life looks successful but doesn’t feel aligned
• Why kindness toward yourself can be transformational
• Fear, shame, and the voices that keep us from following what we really want
• Asking for help and finding the right support
• How therapy, reflection, and self-compassion can help us reconnect with ourselves
• Michael’s “Thirteen-Year-Old Me Test” for making more authentic life decisions
• Choosing purpose over obligation
• How becoming more fully yourself can change your relationships, work, and future

Michael’s chapter offers a powerful question: What would the younger, truest version of you think about the life you’re living today? His “Thirteen-Year-Old Me Test” invites us to reconnect with the part of ourselves that knew what felt exciting, meaningful, and right before so many outside voices entered the picture.

Michael is one of the 25 co-authors of Unleash Yourself: The Ultimate Guide to Becoming You. His chapter, “Kindness as Your Compass: Transform Fear and Doubt Into Living Your Purpose,” explores how self-kindness can help us let go of shame, reconnect with ourselves, and create a life that feels more authentic.

Sometimes kindness isn’t about doing more for everyone else. Sometimes it’s finally listening to yourself.

When does being loving, generous, and deeply caring cross the line into losing yourself?

In this episode, I sit down with Dr. Jacqueline Nonweiler to talk about codependency, people-pleasing, over-giving, boundaries, and what happens when our sense of worth becomes tied to taking care of everyone else.

We explore how codependent patterns can look a lot like love from the outside while leaving you exhausted, resentful, disconnected from your own needs, or afraid to disappoint the people you care about. We also talk about how these patterns can begin early in life and why learning to honor your own boundaries is such an important part of coming back to yourself.

• The difference between being deeply caring and being codependent
• Why over-giving can become a way of seeking love, approval, or safety
• People-pleasing, fear of abandonment, and difficulty knowing what you actually need
• What happens when you say yes but really mean no
• How resentment can signal that you've crossed your own boundaries
• Learning to walk back an insincere yes without shame or over-explaining
• Nervous-system regulation and feeling safe enough to disappoint someone
• How to care deeply for others without abandoning yourself

One of the most powerful distinctions Dr. Jackie makes is that deeply caring people can give from a full cup and stop when they need to, while codependent giving can feel compulsive and leave you depleted or resentful.

Dr. Jacqueline Nonweiler is one of the 25 co-authors of Unleash Yourself: The Ultimate Guide to Becoming You. Her chapter, “Are You Codependent, or Just Deeply Caring? How to Recover When You Said Yes but Meant No,” goes deeper into these patterns and offers tools for beginning to change them.

You can love deeply without disappearing inside your relationships.

Dr. Jackie Nonweiler is a psychologist, spiritual mentor, and relationship expert. In her practice, she fuses a decade of research in attachment and mentalization with the ancient wisdom of inner alchemy. Her work helps people dismantle codependent patterns that keep them abandoning themselves for love, and return to the sovereign, true self underneath.

Grounded in both science and spirit, she guides clients to set boundaries not as walls, but as clear guidelines rooted in self-knowing- so others can understand what you value and where the line sits.

This conversation is so enlightening, especially if you are a person who tends towards codependency or people pleasing.

What would become possible if you gave yourself permission to fully be who you are, express your gifts, and do the things you feel called to do?

In this first episode of the Unleash Yourself Podcast, I’m sharing what “unleashing yourself” means to me, why it matters, and what you can expect from the conversations we’re going to have here.

This show is for you if you know there’s more inside of you that wants to be expressed. Maybe you’re on a spiritual journey, moving through a challenging season and need some hope, trying to find the courage to live your purpose more fully, or ready to take your life, relationships, work or impact to the next level.

We’ll explore what can hold us back—fear, anxiety, social conditioning, past experiences, self-doubt, and the desire to be loved and accepted—and how we can build the self-belief and support we need to move forward.

We’ll also explore service: what changes when we stop making everything about whether we’re good enough or what people will think and start asking, Who could I help if I were willing to show up more fully?

On this podcast, you’ll hear honest, vulnerable conversations about relationships, business, entrepreneurship, art, family, spirituality, sexuality, healing, purpose and more.

My first guests are my Unleash Yourself co-authors, followed by fascinating people from all walks of life. The plan is to go deep, say the real thing, and have the conversations that give all of us more courage to live honestly and boldly.

A question to take with you: What is one small step you can take today toward unleashing more of who you truly are?

If this conversation resonates with you, continue exploring these ideas in Unleash Yourself: The Ultimate Guide to Becoming You.

Through deeply personal stories and practical wisdom from 25 authors, the book explores healing, self-trust, purpose, relationships, joy, courage and what can become possible when we allow ourselves to become more fully who we are.
