The movie is based on the book by the same name and written by the author Shelby Van Pelt.The story is about three characters, firstly, Tova Sullivan is an elderly widow who works as a somewhat misanthropic night janitor at an aquarium in fictional Sowell Bay, Washington, despite having been encouraged to retire.Secondly a young man named Cameron Cassmore, an aspiring musician, ends up in town after experiencing motor trouble. Lastly, it is also about an octopus named Marcellus, an elderly but wise octopus who longs to escape from the aquarium. These three have mini adventures together and discover long lost secrets.
