  • Chapter 5: When Life Doesn't Go as Planned | Niki's Story of Love, Loss & Resilience
    2026/09/14

Sometimes life doesn't follow the plan you imagined, and sometimes the unexpected journey becomes the most meaningful one.

Welcome to Chapter 5 of UNBROKEN with Kate Lovett — “When Life Doesn't Go as Planned.”

In this heartfelt episode, Kate welcomes special guest Niki, an Australian former fashion designer whose journey has taken her through love, marriage, fertility struggles, motherhood, grief, and profound personal growth.

Niki shares how a difficult heartbreak led her to England, where she pursued her creative dreams and showcased her collection at London Fashion Week. She later met Yassin, a Moroccan model, and their relationship grew despite cultural differences and family concerns.

Their journey eventually led to a secret elopement in Morocco, a move to Australia, and a formal wedding celebration.

But life had other challenges in store.

Niki spent eight years navigating endometriosis, PCOS, fertility struggles, and the frustration of not feeling heard by doctors before finally finding someone who took her concerns seriously. Her journey ultimately led to motherhood and the birth of her daughter, Zara.

Today, Niki and Zara are creating memories together through their Mummy and Me adventures, inspiring parents to explore and experience the world with their children.

Niki also opens up about the sudden loss of her father after an unexpected stage four cancer diagnosis and how that loss forced her to become stronger, more independent, and more determined to create stability for her daughter.
