    Quenette Shehane was 21 years old when she left the fraternity house of her boyfriend around 6pm on December 20, 1976. She was running to a corner store to buy salad dressing. The next day, Quenette’s abandoned car and lifeless body was found the next day. Quenette’s murder was brutal and senseless, and the individuals responsible would not go unpunished.

    Irvin Groeninger III (commonly referred to by his adoptive name Adam Herrman) was just 12 years old when he place back in the care of the state of Kansas by his adoptive family in 1999, reportedly due to frequent behavior issues. However, when a sibling contacted the state to reconnect with Irvin in 2008, she learned that, according to the state, Irvin never left the custody of the Herrmans.     Between 1924 & 1950, Georgia Tann completely changed the game of adoption, placing thousands of children with families, even celebrities like Joan Crawford, June Allyson, & Rick Flair. However, the “Mother of Modern Adoption” used this reputation, along with the help of many powerful politicians, to kidnap over 5,000 children to be sold under the guise of adoption over the course of 26 years, though many didn’t make it out of the orphanage alive.
