  • Building AI Systems Since 1982 | Phil D Hall
    2026/10/01

Phil D Hall has been building conversational AI systems since 1982, decades before most people had heard the term. He built his first chatbot on a ZX Spectrum as a teenager, then spent years as a motorcycle courier and furniture maker before training as a systems integrator and studying anthropology, a path that eventually led him to found Elzware in 2002.

In this episode, Phil talks about swimming against the AI hype cycle, why he thinks most of what gets called "AI" is really just applied statistics, and the projects he's building now in healthcare, wellbeing and the charity sector, all guided by the principle that people should own their own data.

    What you'll learn:

Why following curiosity across completely different fields can lead somewhere valuable
The difference between artificial intelligence, machine learning and applied statistics, and why the labels matter
What it takes to keep going when a business fails and you have to start again
Why Phil believes people owning their own data will matter more, not less, as AI develops
How Phil sizes up whether a new AI solution is worth pursuing before building it

Host Andrew Miller, founder of Business Enjoyment, talks to successful entrepreneurs and business people about the personal journeys behind their businesses, the lessons that shaped them and the moment they realised success alone was not enough.
Each episode goes past the usual growth talk to find out what actually gives these guests a buzz out of what they do. Andrew draws on his own coaching background to ask the questions that get past the polished version of the story, uncovering the beliefs, habits and turning points that changed how his guests run their businesses and their lives.
Made for founders and managing directors who have hit a plateau and are asking what it was all for, this show is about finding the enjoyment in business again, not just the numbers. If you are curious what makes other business owners' bits tingle, you are in the right place.

  • Why Chasing Freedom Beats Chasing Growth | Campbell Urquhart
    2026/09/24

Andrew Miller sits down with the Managing Director of an HR consulting firm to talk about what it really takes to build a business around freedom rather than relentless growth. They dig into why being selective about the work you take on is a strength, not a weakness, and how choosing meaningful work over chasing scale changes the shape of a business and a life.

The conversation also covers rebuilding after a major business failure and how that experience can completely reshape your perspective on work. It's a grounded look at flexibility, autonomy, and what success looks like when it's defined on your own terms rather than the market's.

    Key takeaways:
Freedom and flexibility can matter more than growth at all costs
Being selective about the work you take on is a strength
Doing meaningful work you genuinely enjoy is worth building around
Rebuilding after failure can reshape how you see success

  • Born For Purpose - with Andrew Miller, Business Enjoyment.
    2023/10/31

This is a very different episode, as I am my own guest.

The Tingle Zone is going to have a bit of a break as I am currently refocussing my efforts on a very specific market, those who are Child-Free.

The basic principle stand the same - in terms of finding your Purpose and what it is that makes your bits tingle - but as family is often cited as the reason for so many, there is a different nuance when it comes to those who - like me - don't have children.

For my loyal listeners I therefore share with you the audio version of a chapter I contributed to the International Bestselling Book - Transforming Your Life - Vol III

In it, I share my background, my journey and how I came to uncovering my Purpose.

This is only for my subscribers - I won't be promoting the episode as most people have to pay to access the book or the recording - so it's a little Easter Egg as my gift to you for staying with me on this journey.

Do keep an eye on my Linkedin Profile to see what events are coming up and I hope to be back with you soon.

But for now, sit back, relax - think about what makes your bits tingle, and most of all, enjoy!

  • We All Have the Same Story – with Michael de Groot, Storyteller
    2023/10/02

In this episode, I'm talking with Michael de Groot who helps businesses tell better stories about themselves, frequently through images and animation.

Part Dutch, part Indian and raised in Suriname, Michael had an interesting upbringing along with adventures in many different ventures. All the different strands of Michael's life come together at the end to where we find him today as a confident creator.

In our conversation, we cover a number of topics, including:

    • what happens to others when you tell your story;

    • an insight into the drip-drip effect of advertising; and

    • the four key things that every story has to have in it.

What is particularly interesting is that, in terms of basic structure, we all have the same story. The nuances may shift but the essence is the same for everyone – and this is why we identify so much with books, films and the power of story.

    2023/09/04

In this episode, I'm talking with Michael Seaver, an executive coach, leadership consultant, author and public speaker who focuses on unlocking human potential, helping you uncover your most authentic self and define your life's purpose.

Raised on a farm in a small town in Michigan, Michael started working in the family business at the age of 12. When he got married and moved away to Arizona it certainly helped him to broaden his horizons and develop plenty of business and people skills, but also set him up with a number of challenges and created a lot of stress.

Eventually, when his marriage fell apart, Michael went through a state of despair and depression to the point that he was giving serious consideration as to why he was on this planet.

However, a bizarre event involving his cat, Cleopatra, helped him to turn his whole life around, setting him on his journey to understand potential and purpose.

In our conversation, we cover such topics as:

    • how we can take our darkest moments and turn them into opportunities for growth;

    • how being still and trusting in yourself will lead you to the answers you seek; and
