  • England's new era has lift-off after win over pitiful Pakistan
    2026/08/22

England are up and running in the post Bazball era!

Jake, Nick and Will reflect on their dominant win over Pakistan and ask how much we can truly take from beating such a poor level of opposition.

We questioned the lack of spinners in the team given how hot the summer had been, but England's four-man seam attack stole the show and could prove to be pivotal in the winter when England face a much trickier test away in South Africa.

Despite the win, Nick says it would have been made better if we'd seen an Englishman hit a century. He also said that opener Emilio Gay will be fighting for his place heading into the winter with scrutiny growing on Jamie Smith, too.

Away from the Test match, there's discussion on the decision not to award an Ashes Test to Headingley, something both Joe Root and Ben Stokes have criticised.

  • Time for England to win
    2026/08/17

It's a new era for English cricket with a new coach and new captain. First up is a Pakistan.

Jake, Nick and Will unpack an eventful month which saw Brendon McCullum follow Ben Stokes out the exit door with Stephen Fleming and Joe Root in.

Nick questions why a decision on the coach was not made earlier this year and explains why the six months since the Ashes have been wasted. Will says it's a shocker that Fleming is not coming in for an immediate start this week against Pakistan.

Nick tells us why Joe Root was the right choice for England captain over Harry Brook and why he expects Root to be better this time around, having already captained the side earlier in his career.

As for matters on the pitch, there is concern over a lack of spinners given it's been the hottest summer in decades, and Nick also explains why he doesn't care how England plays, as long as they start winning Test matches again.

Plus, we answer all of your questions as usual too!

  • Stokes retires and leaves England in a mess
    2026/06/30

England have lost their first series of the summer to New Zealand but there is only one story in town after Ben Stokes’ shock retirement.

Jake, Nick and Will unpack the series of events which led to Stokes mid-game retirement at Trent Bridge and ask if the former England skipper could have handled the situation better.

We ask how big of a miss Stokes will be as both a player and a captain moving forward, with Nick holding out hope that we have not seen the last of him in the Test arena just yet.

All roads point to Harry Brook as next England captain. We take a look at what England would look like under his leadership and why a potential combination of Brook and Brendon McCullum could be disastrous.

The team also discuss what the future holds for English cricket, Brendon McCullum and Rob Key.

And away from the Stokes circus, we check in with Sonia Twigg for all the latest from the Women’s T20 World Cup as England gear up for a semi-final against South Africa!

  • Lord's pitch overshadows England win over New Zealand
    2026/06/08

Will and Nick are joined by the Telegraph's Tim Wigmore to review England's win over New Zealand in their opening test match of the summer.

Despite the result, the win has been somewhat overshadowed by the Lord's pitch after it took just 166 overs to finish the test match. We ask if major work needs to be done with the surface and if the home of cricket should be put on notice over staging future test matches if something isn't done to improve it.

On the pitch, there was a sensational return for Ollie Robinson who returned to test cricket for the first time in two years, and there's praise also for Emilio Gay who batted well on debut under difficult conditions.

Elsewhere, we ask how much of a concern Ben Stokes form with the bat is and what can be done to rectify it? And should Jofra Archer be an automatic selection once he is available again given the form of England's attack.

And ahead of the start of the Womens T20 World Cup, we speak to the Telegraph's Sonia Twigg about England's chances this summer.
