My name is Rabbi Matt Schneeweiss, and this is the hub for all of my shiurim (classes) on Tefilah (Prayer) and related topics, such as Tehilim (Psalms) and Berachos (Blessings)! The shiurim I upload here are given in a variety of formats with different lengths and intended for different audiences. The common theme which unites all of these shiurim is our focus on strengthening our relationship with Hashem through Avodah she'ba'Lev (Service of the Heart). If you have any questions feel free to email me at rabbischneeweiss at gmail. Thanks for listening!© 2026 The Tefilah Podcast スピリチュアリティ ユダヤ教 哲学 社会科学

    Length: 1 hour 1 minute
Synopsis: This evening (6/17/26), in our last Wednesday night Tehilim shiur of the season, we took another pass at our perek. After reviewing the text, the questions and problems, and our approaches from last time. We then learned through the Meiri's first approach and the Radak's commentary, providing us with two interpretations of the perek. We developed them a bit and attempted to understand this perek's relationship with the previous one. Did we succeed? Somewhat. While we now have a working understanding - well, TWO working understandings - of the perek, and each pasuk, I don't think anyone felt like we really cracked it. There wasn't the satisfying, "Aha!" that we often feel at the end of our learning. Oh well. That just means we get to come back for another attempt in the future, God willing!

In my opinion, this was a great year of Tehilim-learning! I enjoyed spending nearly the entire year within the same set of perakim. I'm excited to revisit this in an attempt to grasp the big picture, now that we have nearly all the pieces.

    Length: 1 hour 1 minute
Synopsis: This evening (6/10/26), in our Wednesday night Tehilim shiur, we began the final perek in our "Kabbalas Shabbos" series: the short and thematically-difficult-to-pin-down Psalm 93! Translation didn't take long, so we were able to pitch several theories. I did my best to share my own, but knew going in that more work was necessarily. As Hashem's will would have it, this did NOT end up being our last shiur of the year. We'll give it another go next week (בג"ה).

  • Tehilim 92: Mizmor Shir l'Yom ha'Shabbos REDUX (Part 3)

    Length: 1 hour 5 minutes
Synopsis: This evening (6/3/26), in our Wednesday night Tehilim shiur, we completed our learning of the Radak's commentary on our perek. After reviewing what we covered last time - the first six pesukim - we delved into the critical seventh pasuk which opened up his whole approach. We then finished learning [the critical parts of] his commentary, stepped back, and compared it with our own analysis, emphasizing the thematic and practical differences. I had to do everything in my power to resist bringing in ideas from the Rambam on Iyov, which would be appropriate but would necessarily fail to do them justice. All in all, I'm super happy with how our learning of this perek went. As I mention at the end of the shiur, this is perhaps the BEST introductory perek to Tehilim - the contents, the method, and the benefits. I can't wait until the next time I learn it!
