Event: 40-second gap in station transmission logs at 11:17 PM
- A 10.5-inch reel of magnetic tape labeled "WKPR - EMERGENCY FILLER - NOV 1974" was found upright against a radio tower anchor at 6:20 AM on March 5, 2009.
- Everything within twenty feet of the tape was coated in ice, yet the tape itself was dry.
- Photographs taken by county road grader operator Gregory Miller showed no footprints, tire tracks, or compression marks within eight feet of the tape despite an overnight snowfall of about 0.1 inch.
- When played at 8:15 AM, the tape contained a clear, fully produced AM broadcast including the WKPR call sign, a Pratt County weather forecast dated November 14, 1974, pedal steel guitar, and a blood drive announcement.
- Bernard Pruitt, listed as the engineer of record in the 1974 log, identified himself as the person who made the tape in October 1974 and said he had kept it for thirty-five years.
