This is the first week of our new teaching series called Kingdom Economics in which we are exploring what it looks like to have our vision and practice for our finances shaped by the Kingdom of God and not by the surrounding culture.

This is the concluding message for our teaching series on the Dwelling Place of God. In this final message, we look at the river in the Garden of Eden, the river flowing out of the Temple of God in Ezekiel's vision (Ezekiel 47), and the river in Revelation 22:1-4.

Our identity drives our behavior. And as relational beings, we look to our group to find a sense of identity and how to behave in light of that identity. Paul tells the followers of Jesus in Corinth that they are "the temple of the living God." What are the implications for that identity? God creates everything good and in harmony with everything else. But things go off the rails when the humans listen to the voice of the serpent, and not the voice of God. Shame enters the story. And it remains with us.

Is the creation story of Genesis One and Two widely misunderstood? What if there's more going on than simply "How and when everything was made?" What if this has more to do with God creating a dwelling place - a temple - with humanity who are to be priests in God's sacred space? What do this tell us about our purpose? In this week of Dwelling, we look at the opening story and what this has to say about the story we live out right here, right now.
