Everyone needs a place they can call their “center of the universe”, for Troy Thompson and family, that is a place called Sunnyside in rural Iowa. Pioneer back with the old sergeant to a way of life that loves (most of) the neighbors, tries to see the good in everyone, prizes hard work, a good story, an honest laugh, and a fair deal of individual liberty. Welcome to life, liberty, and the pursuits that make us happy on the Sunnyside of Life.© 2026 The Sunny Side of Life with Troy Thompson キリスト教 スピリチュアリティ 政治・政府 社会科学 聖職・福音主義

This week at Sunnyside, Troy recounts an exciting moment outside Henhalla, a senior football night and having the family home for the weekend and the incredibly inspirational lives of four by-gone characters: Roy Clark, Norm MacDonald, Richard Farnsworth and a miniature donkey named Hee-Haw and how the values surrounding their lives can help to make everything just a little bit sunnier....and, of course, he finds a way to wade into the murky waters of qualified immunity and the problem with Amendment 1 on the ballot in November....but he does it with a smirk, so, it's fine.

This week at Sunnyside, Troy recounts a week of supporting the arts with visits to the local community theatre production, his audition for Daddy Warlocks in Annie, a trip to see the Broadway traveling show: Waitress, a question about three paintings he poses to the listener, a documentary on Martin Mull now on Netflix and an evening with Steve Martin and Martin Short in Des Moines. Plus! He shares some new plans for a small Dexter herd purchase, a combine fire at his brother's place, and the results of his week-long tabulation of life-interrupting political ads and who he's voting for because of it.
